Boika Mola Mompembe Hervé – better known as RV, Vizzle or Mr Joker – is a L.O. (Linkeroever, Antwerp) record producer.
He was born in Lumbumbashi (DR. Congo) and raised in Antwerp (Belgium). At an early age, Vizzle found out that he had musical talents , especially with beats. He spent hours in his room with a cheap keyboard and a tape recorder. One of these tapes got into the hands of brothers in the hood (Chicago Block) who were impressed by what they heard. Vizzle quickly made a name in L.O.
Vizzle’s journey took off when he created the hip hop crew “LO Squad” which is also his major exposure to the hip hop audience in Antwerp.
During this period, Vizzle began to produce songs for other artists such as “IFF, Ematom, Ghetto P & STS. ”
In 2005, he formed the Hip Hop Collective Muzoba Entertainment with co-founders FTL & Baron (Weardo) and also Street Collapse Records with co-founder “CJ the Master”. Street Collapse Records (SCR) is a crew of beatmakers / producers / songwriters/ singers & rappers. They provide styles such as hip hop, rnb, soul, pop, zouk, gospel, reggae and more …
Muzoba confirmed its success with several life acts at Manu Mundo Festival, Sfinks Festival, The Rocawear Clubtour, R&b all stars, Fishec, Talentendag Zuiderpershuis and many more… Vizzle and CJ produced almost all of Muzoba’s songs.
Three singles were played on Radio Stad 107.8 : Gangsta Gangsta, I just want, Untouchable team. All these singles gained a huge airplay .
Vizzle left Muzoba in 2006 to work on SCR’s upcoming projects.
He focused his time on production for other recording artists ( Jadis, Ghetto P, IFF, Ouzy, Check Pa, Milly, … )
“Street Collapse Records is growing and Im glad with that.”
“Back in the booth”
Vizzle’s long waited debut solo street album, “Joker Time 20:50”, was released in September 2009. The album featured local guests. The first single “Front Soldier” is also the last song on his album.
Vizzle :
“For the last couple of years, there’s been a lot of talk out in the hood about whether or not I’m still producing. And yeah I’m still doing my shit, believe that. Joker Time is just the beginning of a new concept.”
“I try to bring the focus back to the music in its rudest form.”
“I’m not a rapper but I can sound like that”.
“I don’t rap, I produce music and talk on it. It just so happens that it rhymes.”
Vizzle’s production technique inspired by Dr Dre is very headbanging. Using knocking kicks and aggressive snares.. He plays almost all the instruments on keyboard himself, influenced by everything he musically knows.
Vizzle on the subject :
“Death Row was my biggest influence, it’s the people that I listened to when I was growing up. I paid attention to everything they did.”
“I produce more like a musician now. In the old days, I produced more like a kid looking for the right pieces to the puzzle.”
“Me and my man CJ have come a long way, and now we’re on the right pad with a stronger team.”
“Now I’m mostly sharing the booth with my man Leeco (SCR/2050 B.C.). He understands my way of making beats and he’s also talented.”
Vizzle is humbled by his motivation, and hopes that through his music, young beginners will see his vision.
Vizzle is working on several SCR recording projects and on top of the list he’s focused on creating a new movement for the youth to bring his contribution to the Belgian hip hop scene.
